Brisket Style Tri-Tip

Sometimes you want brisket without waiting for 17 hours. I have a solution for you. Tri-tip. When smoked like a brisket you get all the tender, flavorful meat, you would get with brisket in around 5 hours. Let's get smokin'


  1. Trim any silver skin and liberally season the Tri-tip with your favorite brisket seasoning. I used Meat Church Holy Cow for this one.

2. Smoke unwrapped at 250-275 degrees until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.(This takes 2.5-3 hours)

3. Place the tri-tip in a foil boat and continue smoking until internal temperature reaches 203 degrees.


4. When it reaches 203 degrees or is probe tender, remove it from the smoker and let it rest for 30 minutes.


5. After 30 minutes slice against the grain and serve.


With this tri-tip you'll get a flavorful, tender bite of meat that mimics brisket. I love cooking this cut of meat and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Keep Smokin'
